A leading global food ingredients company is seeking to appoint a Senior Chocolate & Confectionery Expert to join its international technical team. This role may be based in the Netherlands, Singapore or Shanghai, and offers the opportunity to become a recognised technical expert supporting global customers and innovation within the chocolate and confectionery sector.

Working closely with key customers, commercial teams and global R&D colleagues, you will provide technical leadership in specialty oils and fats applications, support new product development, and partner with leading chocolate and confectionery manufacturers to develop innovative solutions. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned industry expert to influence product innovation and strengthen long-term customer partnerships on a global scale.

Responsibilities

You will serve as the technical expert for chocolate and confectionery applications, providing high-level technical support to strategic customers and collaborating closely with their R&D teams to develop tailored solutions using specialty oils and fats.

Working alongside commercial, R&D and manufacturing teams across multiple countries, you will develop and optimise formulations, support new product development, troubleshoot application challenges and deliver technical recommendations that enhance customer success. You will also conduct technical workshops, customer demonstrations and training programmes while identifying opportunities for co-development and innovation.

In addition, you will monitor market trends, emerging technologies and evolving customer requirements to ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of chocolate and confectionery innovation.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally possess a PhD in Food Science or a related discipline.

Candidates should bring 15 or more years of experience within the chocolate and confectionery industry, with deep technical expertise in specialty oils and fats . Proven experience developing specialty fats solutions and applications for chocolate and confectionery manufacturers is essential.

You should possess outstanding customer-facing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with global R&D teams and translate technical challenges into innovative commercial solutions. Experience working across international markets, together with the willingness to travel globally, will be highly advantageous.
